I would like to share one quote from a book my father sent to me a while ago.

“While you blame someone for a mistake, you cannot be a leader. A true leader admits to his fault even if it’s caused by someone.”

As a business owner and a part of the sometimes-chaotic society, I always try to make sure that I don’t blame someone for a mistake. I do make a mistake. So do other people. We are not perfect. Blaming someone is easy while admitting to an own mistake is really difficult usually because of egos.

Some of you may know that I had an employee. He was a great man who was honest and hard working. Unfortunately, he is no longer with me. I needed to let him go due to the financial constraints. I was always hoping that he would be more proactive and bring the company more profits. I gave him some marketing ideas, but I was basically just hoping that he would figure out. That was my fault that I did not provide him with environment in which he could make better use of his skills and knowledge.

During his short employment, I realized I was not a good leader because I could not analyze his strengths and make a full use of them while leading him to where he could gain new skills and knowledge. I know I need to lead my employees in order for the company to grow, and it’s one of the biggest task now that I learn how to lead.
